June 1st Eagle Project - Save the Date!

Evan’s Eagle project has been moved to Saturday, June 1.

For the Eagle Project, he is going to refurbish a 40-foot shipping container that his Cross Country and Track team uses as a storage bin and coaches’ office. This will involve installing insulation, rubber flooring, new weather-stripping, and sealing small holes.

The project is planned for Saturday, June 1st and will be located the Laguna Hills High School stadium. Any scouts who want to come help are welcome! There will also be donuts in the morning and pizza in the afternoon.

New “Trail to First Class” Meeting Starts May 6

Starting in May, scouts that are working towards First Class rank will be able to come early (6pm) on the first Monday of the month to work on rank advancement. The first meeting will be May 6th @ 6pm and regular troop meeting will take place like normal (at 7pm).

“Trail to First Class” includes the ranks for Scout, Tenderfoot, Second Class, and First Class. The goal of meeting early is to provide additional opportunity for scouts to work on advancement requirements for these ranks.

If you have not earned the rank of First Class, this meeting is for you.

Whitewater

Whitewater Rafting Camp

May 24 2024 through May 27, 2024 (Memorial Day weekend, no school Monday).

Location: Kernville, CA

Scouts will have the opportunity to complete their Whitewater and Kayaking merit badges while being led down the Kern River by outfitter Sierra South.

They do a great job.

We've used their services several times and they're affiliated with the Western Los Angeles Council as they use them for White Water rafting as part of BSA Camp Whitsett.

This event will include a day trip into the Sequoia National Forest to see the Trail of A Hundred Giants. This includes trees that are over 2,000 years old... Jesus was walking the earth when they started to grow.

We'll need to leave Friday afternoon and will likely ask you to pull your Scout from school an hour or two early. It's a Friday before a 3 day weekend just weeks before summer... nobody is teaching much that afternoon anyway :-)

We've broken the cost into payments over 5 months. Because we have to make payments to the camps, if you can pay-in-full, or pay ahead, it helps tremendously.
